Dr Hammond's research focuses on three main areas: sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender-based violence, and the intersections between climate, health, gender and violence. Her work emphasizes the importance of a gendered lens in healthcare, challenges stigma around sensitive health topics, and seeks to amplify voices of marginalized communities. She employs interdisciplinary approaches, working with diverse populations including veterans, sex workers, LGBT communities, ethnic minorities, and people living with HIV.
Her recent publications demonstrate strong trends in climate change impacts on sexual and reproductive health, military/veteran health (particularly combat-genital injuries), and HIV transmission reduction efforts. The research spans qualitative and quantitative methodologies with a strong emphasis on policy relevance and community impact. Many studies focus on marginalized populations and aim to influence healthcare planning and delivery through evidence-based approaches.
