Chris Waugh

Dr. Chris Waugh is a Lecturer in Criminology at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), affiliated with the Contemporary Intimacies, Sexualities and Genders research group and the GUIDE network. He holds a PhD from the University of Manchester (2023) and prior degrees from the University of Cambridge (BA English, 2012; MPhil Gender Studies, 2014). His research focuses on masculinities, zemiology, gender-based violence prevention, sex work rights, and structural violence in housing. He conceptualizes 'sex for rent' as a zemiological harm arising from policy failures, currently researching this topic for the Routledge Handbook of Gender and Violence (2024).
