Michael Reade

Professor Michael Reade AM is the Director of the Greater Brisbane Clinical School and Professor of Military Medicine and Surgery at the University of Queensland. He leads research in military trauma medicine, critical care, and trauma systems design. His career spans academic roles at institutions such as the University of Oxford and University of Pittsburgh, alongside active service in the Australian Army Reserve and ADF, including deployments to conflict zones like Afghanistan and Iraq. He has held leadership positions in trauma care, including directing clinical services at NATO hospitals and the Australian Regular Army's field hospital. His research focuses on hemorrhage control, trauma systems, and delirium management in critical care. He has supervised over a dozen postgraduate students and secured >$40M in research grants, with 200+ peer-reviewed publications and 310+ conference presentations. Awards include the Order of Australia (AM) for military service and a UK Higher Education Fellowship.
