Michael Reade

Michael Reade is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Acute & Critical Care at Monash University and holds an External position as Defence Professor of Military Medicine and Surgery with the Australian Defence Force since November 2011. His research focuses on blood transfusion practices, trauma intensive care, and sepsis management. He leads major projects like the 'Threshold for Platelets study' and 'MEGASCORES' initiative to improve critical care outcomes. Key awards include the 2024 Gordon Trinca Lecture and 2019 Queen's Birthday Honour (AM).

Recent research explores blood transfusion strategies, long-term trauma patient outcomes, and sepsis treatment innovations. He has contributed to over 164 publications, including high-impact articles on critical care protocols and clinical guidelines.
