Michael Fonkem

Dr. Michael Fonkem is a Professor of Human Services Leadership at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He holds a PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from Nova Southeastern University (2010), a master’s in the same field from Antioch University, and degrees in French from Nigerian and Cameroonian institutions. His expertise spans conflict resolution, social issues, refugee migration, and human services. He has served as adjunct faculty at multiple institutions, including UW-Parkside, Marian College, and Fox Valley Technical College. Dr. Fonkem’s professional experience includes 18 years as Executive Director of the Association for Nonviolence, diplomatic work in Cameroon’s Foreign Ministry, and a Fulbright Scholarship (1995/96) at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute for Public Affairs, University of Minnesota.

He emphasizes practical interventions in human services and behavioral strategies for societal challenges.

Teaching & Engagement: Teaches courses on social issues, domestic violence, refugee migration, and conflict analysis. Actively engages in public presentations and scholarly publishing on global social issues. Maintains a commitment to bridging academic research with real-world community impact.
