Patrick T. Hiller

Patrick T. Hiller, Ph.D., serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Conflict Resolution at Portland State University and Executive Director of the War Prevention Initiative by the Jubitz Family Foundation. He holds leadership roles in the International Peace Research Association (Governing Council), IPRA Foundation (Board of Directors), Oregon Peace Institute (Board of Directors), and contributes to the Peace and Conflict Studies Journal editorial team and International Cities of Peace/PeaceVoice Advisory Council.

His educational background includes:

• Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from Nova Southeastern University
• M.A. in Human Geography from Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany

Dr. Hiller's research centers on conflict resolution and peace studies with emphasis on structural violence, power dynamics, and human rights. His work explores human dignity, solidarity, and equal participation across environmental issues, ethnicity, nationalism, migration, and social movements, with specialized focus on Latin America and Mexico. He employs interdisciplinary approaches integrating geography, political science, and sociology to analyze war prevention frameworks.

As Executive Director of the War Prevention Initiative, Dr. Hiller leads research-advocacy efforts to transform structural violence into peaceful systems. His organizational engagements span IPRA governance, editorial oversight for peace scholarship, and strategic advisory roles promoting evidence-based peacebuilding initiatives globally.
