Melissa Morris

Melissa Morris is an Adjunct Lecturer at Queen’s University’s Department of Drama within the Faculty of Drama, Music/Theatre. She is a multifaceted artist with expertise in acting, singing, musical direction, composition, and education. Her career spans theatre, film, and academia, with notable roles at institutions like the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival and collaborations on works such as Evil Dead the Musical.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degrees from Queen’s University (Music and Drama departments)
• Studies at Australian National University

Research & Practice: Focuses on integrating vocal techniques across musical theatre genres, including legit, belt, and contemporary styles. Active in composing original musicals, sound design, and interdisciplinary theatre projects. Teaches at Queen’s and arts institutions in the Greater Toronto Area.

Recent Work: Musical Director/Composer for St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, creator of Love Stories: Prescott, and contributor to Evil Dead the Musical, which has international runs. Engaged in vocal pedagogy and performance training.
