James Spilling

James Spilling is a vocal tutor specializing in Musical Theatre at Royal Holloway University of London, joining the faculty in October 2024. He concurrently teaches singing at The Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Arts Educational Schools, London. His career spans performance, coaching, and composing.

Research & Performance: A renowned concert artist and session singer, Spilling has performed in major West End musicals (e.g., Phantom of the Opera), national tours, and radio broadcasts. He contributed vocals to films like Bohemian Rhapsody, Last Christmas, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, and video game soundtracks such as Killzone Trilogy. As a composer/arranger, he focuses on jazz and big band music, collaborating with orchestras and artists including Katie Birtill.

Other Work: Vocal coach for Bohemian Rhapsody, arranger for the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and creator of the Big Band EP Do You Read Me.
