Maisha Akbar, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Fort Valley State University within the College of Arts and Sciences, where she serves as Chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts and Mass Communications. Dr. Akbar has received honors including Georgia’s Most Influential Women of 2011 and multiple Outstanding Service Awards from Fort Valley State University. She advises the Joseph Adkins Players drama group and contributes to curriculum reform, gender studies, and Civil Rights initiatives. Her digital scholarship includes the Black.Play.Book platform and educational content on theatre production and stage design.
