LEE Pey Woan

LEE Pey Woan is a Full-time Faculty member and currently serves as the Dean of the Yong Pung How School of Law at Singapore Management University (SMU). He holds the academic rank of Professor of Law, a position he has held since July 2019. Prior roles include Vice Provost (Faculty Matters) at SMU (2020–2022) and various Associate Dean positions focusing on undergraduate teaching, curriculum development, and faculty affairs. He has been with SMU since 2000, progressing from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor before becoming a full Professor in 2019.

Dr. Lee’s education includes a B.C.L. from the University of Oxford (1992) and an LL.B. (First Class Honours) from King's College, University of London (1990). He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore in 1993. Before joining academia, he served as Legal Manager at Keppel Corporation Limited (1993–2000).

His research interests span Corporate Law, Contract Law, and the Law of Torts. He actively publishes on topics such as company law modernization, contractual obligations, and the impact of technology on corporate governance. Recent work addresses issues like director liabilities in the digital age, dual-class share structures, and recharacterization of legal forms.

Lee is a member of several professional bodies, including the Singapore Academy of Law and the Singapore Institute of Legal Education. He contributes to legal education through editorial roles, such as the Editorial Board for the Reissue of the Singapore Law Reports. His courses at SMU include Business Law and Corporate Law.
