LOO Wee Ling

LOO Wee Ling is an Associate Professor of Law (Education) at the Yong Pung How School of Law, Singapore Management University (SMU), where she has held academic positions since 1993. She specializes in Contract and Commercial Law, Credit and Security Law, Consumer Law, and Ethics and Artificial Intelligence. Her teaching excellence is recognized through awards like the SMU Teaching Excellence Award for Most Innovative Teacher (2005) and inclusion in the SMU Teaching Honour List (2005-2006). Professor Loo has contributed to legal education via textbooks like Principles of Singapore Business Law (2019) and Law of Credit and Security (2012). Her research examines legal frameworks such as the Singapore Consumer Protection Act and contractual capacity standards.

Education includes an LL.B. (Second Upper Honours) from the National University of Singapore (1988) and an LL.M. from the University of Sydney (1996), supported by scholarships like the Academic Staff Development Scheme Scholarship. She is an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore (1989) and has held roles as a Legal Assistant at Koh & Yang (1989-1993).

Her publications span legal pedagogy, consumer protection reforms, and contract law. She serves on the Editorial Board of the Asia Business Law Review and has been an External Examiner for SIM University and ACCA legal courses. Additionally, she mediated disputes for CASE (2006-2009) and taught negotiation in MBA programs.
