Julio Labra

Julio Labra is a Professor of Foundation Studies at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta, GA (2022–present). He holds an M.F.A. in painting from Laguna College of Art and Design and a B.F.A. in illustration from the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Prior roles include Director of Visual Arts at Pegasus California School (2016–21), Head of Arts Department at Pegasus California Schools, and multiple adjunct professorships and instructor positions at institutions like Laguna College of Art and Design, Santa Ana College, and Coastline Community College.

His professional focus spans art education, contemporary art practices, and visual arts administration. He has organized and participated in numerous exhibitions, including solo and group shows in California and internationally. Labra co-founded the Qingdao Visual and Performing Educators Association and founded B Minus Studios in Santa Ana, CA, as well as the Qingdao Arts Community.

Awards include the SAS Contemporary Artists Residency (2018) and the Laguna Beach Alumni Residency (2010). His teaching and curatorial work emphasize foundational art principles and community engagement through art.
