Joshua Ash is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Law and Director of the Environmental Law & Policy Clinic at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. His work focuses on fostering local climate change mitigation and adaptation policies, environmental justice, and equitable green economic opportunities. He leads projects addressing decarbonization in transportation, agriculture, and industry sectors, alongside innovative environmental governance frameworks like constitutional environmental rights and intergenerational equity.

Research & Practice: Combines legal expertise with multidisciplinary skills in legislative advocacy, grant implementation, environmental permitting, and infrastructure project delivery. Previously, he contributed to national climate initiatives such as the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant program, Buy Clean policies, and the PROTECT and BRIC programs at institutions like USDOT’s Volpe Center and the Georgetown Climate Center.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Environmental Law & Policy Clinic, collaborating with the Pittsburgh community on climate resilience and justice projects. Active in the American Bar Association’s Environment, Energy, and Resources Section, co-chairing its Membership Diversity Enhancement Program.
