Joshua Galperin

Joshua Galperin is an Associate Professor of Law and Faculty Director of the Sustainable Business Law Hub at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law, Pace University. He joined the faculty in July 2021 after serving as faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and holding multiple roles at Yale, including Lecturer in Law, Director of the Environmental Protection Clinic, and Research Scholar. His academic and professional work is deeply rooted in environmental, administrative, and constitutional law, with a growing focus on sustainable business and ESG frameworks.

Professor Galperin's research centers on the intersection of environmental law, administrative legitimacy, and democratic governance. He explores how private actors, particularly NGOs, influence environmental regulation and how administrative institutions affect political power. His work also extends into food and agriculture law, especially the integration of environmental concerns with farm policy. He has taught courses in Administrative Law, Environmental Law, Torts, and Contracts.

His recent publications reflect a strong trend toward examining the erosion and resilience of administrative democracy, the role of science in judicial decision-making (especially under the Major Questions Doctrine), and innovative models of private environmental governance. These works appear in leading journals such as the Georgetown Law Journal, Columbia Journal of Environmental Law, and University of Pittsburgh Law Review.

Professor Galperin has been actively involved in advising and curriculum development, notably as a nominee for diversity in the curriculum and public service awards. He has led dual degree programs between law and environmental schools and collaborated on land use initiatives.
