Moore’s research focuses on modern imperialism, particularly the British Empire’s interactions in Asia, Africa, and the Pacific, alongside bureaucracy, economic history, and the socio-cultural constructs of Britishness and whiteness. His teaching emphasizes collaborative learning, covering global history, colonial theory, and the history of business and international marketing. He employs an upside-down classroom model, allowing students to co-construct syllabi and engage actively with materials. Outside academia, he founded Broad Street Cider in New Orleans and is recognized for unconventional Mardi Gras practices, such as wearing balloons in pantyhose on his head—a gesture that earned him a shout from a Muses float participant.
