Jonathan McKenzie

Jonathan McKenzie is an Assistant Professor of Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at Northern Kentucky University, specializing in political theory. He teaches courses spanning pre- and post-Enlightenment political thought, Western political thought, and 19th/20th century American political thought.

• Ph.D. in Political Science from Purdue University (2008)
• B.S. and M.A. in Political Science from the University of Wyoming (original home state)

His research bridges philosophy and political theory, with a focus on American individualism, continental philosophy, and psychoanalytic frameworks. He incorporates existential phenomenology and thinkers like Thoreau into his pedagogy, following Thoreau's principle of embracing 'infinite expectation of the dawn' in education.
