His courses include Biblical Greek, New Testament Letters, Beginning Preaching, and Principles of Biblical Interpretation, building on his background as a United Methodist Church pastor for eight years (ordained Deacon in 1991, Elder in 1999).
Education:
- Bachelor of Science from the University of Oklahoma
- Seminary studies at Oral Roberts University
- Doctor of Philosophy from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School
Dr. Lamp's research explores the critical intersection of theology and ecology through ecological hermeneutics, collaborating with the Society of Biblical Literature's Ecological Hermeneutics section to develop biblical interpretation frameworks addressing environmental stewardship. His scholarly focus bridges ancient textual analysis with contemporary ecological challenges.
He maintains enduring relationships with students long after graduation, reflecting ORU's close faculty-student dynamic. Ordained in the United Methodist Church, he balances academic work with personal interests in weightlifting, camping, and caring for his rescued basset hounds Harley and Norma Jean.
Dr. Lamp resides in Tulsa (where he moved at age 10 after being born in South Dakota) with his wife Monica, and enjoys active involvement with his two grandsons and granddaughter.
