Jason Borders is Professor of Religion at Huntingdon College, a United Methodist-affiliated institution, where he serves as both an academic and ordained minister. Dr. Borders specializes in Luke–Acts, Isaiah, and the Dead Sea Scrolls, with a particular interest in temple ideology, biblical land theology, and intertextuality. His research bridges ancient texts and modern theological reflection, especially in areas of Jewish-Christian dialogue and post-Holocaust theology. He has presented seminars on topics such as religion and politics, the historical Jesus, and modern Israel.
His scholarly contributions are primarily in the form of critical reviews published in respected journals including Themelios, Review of Biblical Literature, and Ashland Theological Journal. These works reflect deep engagement with New Testament scholarship, prophetic literature, and Second Temple Judaism. While not producing full-length research articles, his reviews demonstrate rigorous academic analysis and theological insight.
Dr. Borders has been recognized for excellence in teaching, receiving the Exemplary Teacher Award from the United Methodist Church in 2014 and the Dr. and Mrs. John N. Todd Award in 2006. These honors underscore his commitment to pedagogy and mentorship.

As an ordained Elder in the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church, Dr. Borders integrates faith and scholarship. He serves as Theologian in Residence at First United Methodist Church in Montgomery and views his role at Huntingdon as a ministry. He has led educational tours in Israel and continues to teach and travel there. His professional memberships include the Society of Biblical Literature, the Institute for Biblical Research (Fellow), and the Wesleyan Theological Society.
Dr. Borders is actively involved in the academic and spiritual life of Huntingdon College, contributing to its mission of fostering a community of faith, wisdom, and service.
