James Sparks, MFA, is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Art at Mount Saint Vincent University. He holds a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis and an MFA from the University of Southern California. His teaching focuses on Drawing, Photography, and Narrative Photography, reflecting his dual expertise in fine arts and pedagogy.
As a practicing artist, Sparks works primarily in oil painting and photography, with works featured in corporate and private collections such as the Manufacturing Hanover Bank and Guideposts. His exhibitions include venues like the Salamagundi Club, Katonah Museum, and the Gallery at Rockefeller State Park Preserve. He has presented research on Interpretive strategies and a theory of learning styles at the Hudson River Museum and participated in residencies at the Millay Colony of the Arts and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
