Leah Raintree is an Adjunct Professor in the Art Foundation department at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of the Arts. Her practice explores human connections to earth, time, matter, and scale through experimental drawing, ceramics, and cameraless photography. She engages with materiality and place, often incorporating site-specific materials to investigate ecological interdependencies.
Raintree holds a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MFA from Parsons School of Design. She has exhibited work in solo shows at The Noguchi Museum (NY), Reynolds Gallery (VA), and W&L University’s Staniar Gallery (VA). Her residencies include prestigious programs at Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (NYC), Frans Masereel Centrum (Belgium), and the Banff Centre (Canada).
As an educator, Raintree has taught at Parsons School of Design and worked in museum administration at institutions like the Judd Foundation and MoMA PS1. Her work bridges artistic practice with environmental inquiry, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to understanding human-geologic interrelationships.
