Peter Barrickman

Peter Barrickman is an Interim Associate Professor and a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, film, performance, sculpture, and installation. His work explores themes of transition, simultaneity, and the intersection of character acting, games, and music. He received his BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and his MFA from Bard College.

Barrickman’s teaching philosophy emphasizes collaboration, self-awareness, and critical engagement through studio practices. His students are encouraged to view challenges as creative opportunities, fostering empathy and diverse perspectives.

His work has been exhibited internationally at venues including Tate Modern (London), Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, and The Green Gallery (Milwaukee). He has held residencies at Centraltrak (Dallas) and the Millay Colony (Austerlitz).

Barrickman is represented by The Green Gallery in Milwaukee. His pedagogy focuses on balancing individual creativity with collective learning, emphasizing freedom, curiosity, and imagination in artistic discovery.
