Ellen Brightwell

Ellen Brightwell is a Senior Instructor and Spanish Program Director at the University of South Carolina's Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. She holds an M.A. in Spanish from Winthrop University and has taught at USC since 2005.

Her academic work focuses on Spanish language instruction across all levels, with specialization in Spanish grammar and curriculum development. As Program Director, she coordinates teaching schedules and oversees course development for Spanish language programs.

Brightwell has received multiple teaching awards including the Mortar Board Excellence in Teaching Award and Sigma Delta Pi teaching excellence recognition. She has mentored honors students including thesis advisees and McNair Scholars.
