Thomas Hughes serves as Senior Instructor at the University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School of Business, where he has taught commercial law courses for 25 years. As Director of the Business at Moore program since 2011, he oversees specialized business education initiatives and has led international study programs in England, Turkey, and Greece.
Hughes has received numerous teaching honors including seven Mortar Board Excellence in Teaching Awards, the 2011 Alfred G. Smith Award, and recognition as one of Princeton Review's "Best 300 Professors in the United States" (2012). Additional distinctions include Elliott Davis Fellowship (2013) and Michael A. Hill Honors College Outstanding Professor Award (2015).
His extensive service includes membership on the Campus Judicial Board, direction of the Business at Moore program, and mentorship for Carolina and McNair Scholars. Hughes has supervised over 50 undergraduate honors theses covering diverse legal and business topics.
