Martha Alexander is a Teaching Associate Professor in the Department of Romance Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she has taught since 2003. She earned her BA in Spanish and Pre-Medicine, MA in Spanish (Middlebury College in Madrid), and Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures, all from UNC Chapel Hill.
Her research interests focus on Spanish Art, Architecture, and the histories of Spain and the United States, with a strong emphasis on study abroad experiences. She has extensive experience in Spain, including studying in Sevilla and Madrid, and served as Vice-Director for The Texas Tech University Center in Sevilla. She currently advises the Zeta Psi Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi National Collegiate Honor Society, Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and sits on the Faculty Hearings Board and Advisory Committee on Undergraduate Admissions.
Dr. Alexander teaches courses such as SPAN 101 (Elementary Spanish I), SPAN 203/204 (Intermediate Spanish), and SPAN 255 (Conversation I).
