Courtney Ryan

Courtney Ryan is a Professor of Foundation Studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta. She holds an M.F.A. in Art from Georgia Southern University and a B.F.A. in Art from Columbus State University. Her professional roles include teaching positions at Georgia Southern University, LeMoyne Arts Gallery, and the Averitt Center for the Arts. Ryan specializes in ceramics, sculpture, and public art, with a focus on themes such as consumerism's environmental impact and psychological representations through art.

Her research and creative work have been showcased in exhibitions like Interrupted at MINT Gallery (2018), Domestic Consumption at Art Lab Seaboard Depot (2017), and Environs at 600 Broad Street Gallery (2018). She has also presented papers on topics like Frames of Visual Consumption and Size Matters, or so I Thought at conferences such as SECAC and the Georgia Southern University Research Symposium.

Ryan has received numerous awards, including the ThinkTank 10 Emerging Educator Fellowship (2018) and the SECAC Gulnar Bosch Travel Award (2017). Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to art, blending traditional techniques with contemporary themes.
