Carlin Wing

Carlin Wing is an Associate Professor and Chair of Media Studies at Scripps College. She holds a PhD in Media, Culture, and Communication from NYU, an MFA from CalArts, and an AB from Harvard. Her research examines bounce as a cultural technique through interdisciplinary lenses including game studies, material culture, and performance.

Research Focus: Her book project Bounce: A History of Balls, Walls, and Gaming Bodies investigates the material and cultural dimensions of play. She creates multimedia works under the Hitting Walls project umbrella.

Publications & Exhibitions: Wing has published in Games and Culture and Public Books, and exhibited internationally. She teaches courses on game design, digital media, and theories of interaction.
