Mara Lonner is a Lecturer (SOE) Emerita at the University of California, Irvine, affiliated with the Claire Trevor School of the Arts and the Department of Art. She holds an MFA from the California Institute for the Arts (CalArts) and has taught at UCI, CalArts, and Long Beach City College. Her work focuses on blending organic and geometric forms through sculpture, installation, and mixed media, addressing themes like nature's resilience and architectural decay.
Education: BFA and MFA from CalArts.
Research interests include environmental art, public installations, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Notable projects include the Leimert Park Landscape (2021) for Metro Art and Panorama City Shape and Line (2018) with Kim Schoenstadt. Awards include dual Durfee Foundation grants and a California Arts Council Grant.
