Brian Roessler

Brian Roessler is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Communication, Media, & Culture at Coastal Carolina University. He transitioned to academia full-time after 12 years producing television for Horry County Schools. His teaching focuses on organizational communication/media, while his research explores ethnographic methods through songwriting and open mic culture.

Education: M.A. in Communication Management from Webster University (2010). Born in Pittsburgh, he has lived in Horry County, SC since 2000.

Beyond academia, Roessler is a prolific musician with five full-length albums and two EPs released since 2004. His work blends acoustic performance with creative resilience, shaped by overcoming a career-threatening finger injury that redefined his musical style.

Active in the Grand Strand arts community, he organizes performances, supports local venues, and maintains an extensive touring schedule. Technical requirements for performances include minimal equipment needs, relying on his signature guitar tunings and acoustic setup.
