Brian Kingsley

Brian Kingsley is Professor of Tuba (Senior Tutor) at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). He holds dual professional roles as both an academic and performing musician. His academic responsibilities include teaching tuba and serving as Senior Tutor, training the next generation of musicians at the conservatoire level.

His research and performance interests focus on:

• Tuba performance techniques and repertoire
• Brass instrument pedagogy
• Orchestral performance practices
• Professional development for musicians

Concurrently, he maintains an active performance career as Principal Tuba with the Orchestra of Opera North, a position he has held since co-founding the ensemble in 1978. The orchestra performs approximately 30 symphony concerts annually alongside its opera season at Leeds Grand Theatre.
