Tony Clements

Tony Clements serves as Lecturer and Instructor of Tuba, Euphonium, and Brass Ensemble at Stanford University while actively conducting multiple ensembles in the Bay Area.

His current academic and artistic affiliations include:

• Stanford University: Instructor of Tuba, Euphonium, and Brass Ensemble
• Ohlone College: Conductor of Wind Orchestra, Community Band, and Tuba Ensemble
• Mission Peak Brass Band: Conductor

He received his formal music education at California State University, Northridge, studying under Tommy Johnson and Roger Bobo while performing tuba, bass trombone, euphonium, and bass trumpet. His orchestral training included work with Mehli Mehta in the American Youth Symphony and Myung-Whun Chung in the Young Musicians' Foundation Debut Orchestra.

Clements' expertise centers on brass performance specialization and wind ensemble direction, with career highlights including 21 seasons as Principal Tubist of the San Jose Symphony and performances with major orchestras including San Francisco Symphony, San Diego Symphony, and San Francisco Opera Orchestra. His artistic focus emphasizes tuba/euphonium repertoire development and community-based music education through ensemble leadership.

He currently directs the Ohlone Wind Orchestra, Mission Peak Brass Band, Ohlone Community Band, and the 12-year-old Ohlone Tuba Ensemble, maintaining an active role in both higher education and community music programs.
