Bill Russell is a Visiting Professor at University College London and a key member of the Centre for Innovation and Service Research at the University of Exeter Business School. He teaches Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Digital Era on Exeter's Executive MBA and MBA programs, collaborating with institutions like VISA and the Bank of England.
His research focuses on digital transformation in higher education publishing, analyzing how publishers like Elsevier and Sage adapt to global market shifts via innovation portfolios and analytics-driven strategies. He has explored organizational ambidexterity and misalignment of technology and innovation strategies in publishing.
His academic work is complemented by 27 years of corporate experience in marketing and leadership roles at Emerald Group Publishing and Castrol, where he managed international motorsport programs and sales in Spain. He holds a PhD in Innovation Management from the University of Exeter and a BA in History from the University of Nottingham.
