Dr. Ayad Anwer is a Microbiologist, Microscopist, and expert in biological specimen preparation. He holds roles as a Research Associate and Laboratory Manager at UNSW's School of Biomedical Engineering and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Macquarie University's Department of Clinical Medicine. His academic journey includes a PhD in Biology/Biophotonics (1999–2003), two master's degrees, and a Bachelor of Biology with Honors.
His research focuses on Biophotonics, including autofluorescence imaging, laser photobiomodulation, and correlative microscopy. Notable contributions include developing the AutoMitoNetwork software for mitochondrial analysis and advancing non-invasive diagnostic techniques for oncology and renal disorders.
Dr. Anwer has secured grants totaling over $390k, including funding for high-throughput flow cytometers and optical detection systems.
