Željka Bedić is a Croatian researcher with expertise in bioarchaeology, paleopathology, and paleostomatology. She holds a PhD in archaeology from the University of Zadar (2014) with a focus on medieval archaeology. Currently, she works as a Znanstveni suradnik (Researcher) at the Institute for Anthropology since 2023. Previously, she held roles at the Anthropological Center of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (2018–2023), including postdoctoral research (2014–2018) and early-career research (2009–2014).
Her work spans interdisciplinary collaborations, including forensic anthropology as an assistant at the University Department for Forensic Sciences, University of Split (2009–2013). She has contributed to projects analyzing population changes during the Avar period, health impacts of late medieval warfare, and migrations between the Venetian Republic and Ottoman Empire, using stable isotope analysis and bioarchaeological methods. She also participated in excavations across Croatia and forensic identifications of Croatian War of Independence victims.
She is affiliated with professional organizations such as the Hrvatsko arheološko društvo (Croatian Archaeological Society), European Anthropological Association, International Association for Paleodontology, and European Association of Archaeologists.
