Dr. Eraslan's research centers on classical and modern interpretations of Islamic law, with particular emphasis on jihad jurisprudence, consensus (ijma) theory, and methodological approaches in fiqh. Her work bridges 18th-century Ottoman scholarship with contemporary reinterpretations, examining how historical legal frameworks address modern ethical dilemmas through rigorous textual analysis of primary sources.
Her recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory from historical Ottoman legal studies toward modern reformist interpretations, particularly analyzing Mahmud Shaltut's contextual approach to Quranic verses on jihad. This evolution reflects her scholarly commitment to demonstrating the adaptability of Islamic legal tradition while maintaining fidelity to classical methodology.
She has also authored the 2024 monograph "Artvin'de Dini Hayat" (Religious Life in Artvin), contributing to regional religious studies through empirical field research on contemporary Islamic practice in northeastern Turkey.
