Dr. İsmail Demir is an Associate Professor in the Department of Field Crops at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ahi Evran University, where he has been working since 2011. He also serves as the Head of Science Field since 2018 and previously held positions as Deputy Department Head (2013-2018) and Nursery Manager (2014-2016). He has taught numerous courses including Climate Science, Oil Plants, Industrial Plants, and various field crop cultivation courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr. Demir completed his PhD in Field Crops at Ankara University (2002-2009), his Master's in Field Crops at Ege University (1997-2000), and his Bachelor's in Field Crops at Ege University (1993-1997). He is proficient in English with a YÖKDİL score of 65.
His primary research focus is on industrial plants, particularly sunflower and safflower cultivation. His work examines yield components, effects of different cultivation practices, nitrogen fertilization, and climate change impacts on oilseed crops. He has supervised numerous Master's students in research related to oilseed crops, industrial plants, and agricultural practices under semi-arid conditions.
Analysis of his recent publications shows a strong emphasis on optimizing cultivation practices for oilseed crops in semi-arid regions, particularly examining yield components, nitrogen application timing, and adaptation to environmental stressors. His work bridges traditional agricultural practices with modern scientific approaches to improve crop productivity in challenging environmental conditions.
Dr. Demir has successfully led multiple research projects, including studies on safflower varieties under salt and drought stress, sunflower yield components, and the effects of different planting times and densities on industrial crops. His research demonstrates a consistent focus on practical agricultural solutions for regional farming challenges.
He has advised numerous Master's students on topics related to industrial plants, particularly focusing on sunflower, safflower, and other oilseed crops. His teaching portfolio includes courses on climate science, industrial plants, and various field crop cultivation techniques, reflecting his broad expertise in agricultural science.
Dr. Demir actively participates in agricultural research communities, presenting his findings at national and international conferences, and collaborating with researchers across Turkey on various agricultural projects related to crop production and adaptation to changing environmental conditions.
