Dr. İmamoğlu specializes in Quranic Studies and Tafsir, with research focusing on Quranic interpretation methodologies, semantic analysis of Quranic terms, and the intersection of Islamic thought with contemporary issues. His work often addresses the contextual interpretation of controversial Quranic passages, particularly those related to jihad and violence, examining how these are interpreted within both classical Islamic scholarship and modern contexts. He has also conducted significant research on Ottoman-era Tafsir practices and the teaching of Quranic sciences throughout Islamic history.
His publications reveal a consistent focus on bridging classical Islamic scholarship with contemporary challenges, particularly addressing Islamophobia through scholarly analysis of Quranic texts. He frequently examines how historical interpretations of Quranic verses can inform modern understanding while countering misrepresentations of Islam in contemporary discourse.
Dr. İmamoğlu has supervised numerous graduate students, including 12 master's and doctoral candidates whose work focuses on various aspects of Quranic studies, Tafsir methodologies, and Islamic ethics. His editorial work includes several conference proceedings and academic journals focused on Islamic studies, demonstrating his active engagement with the scholarly community.
He teaches a range of courses from undergraduate to doctoral levels, including Tafsir I-III, Quranic Sciences and History of Tafsir, Quranic Word Analysis, and Comparative Readings of El-İtkan and El-Burhan. His teaching reflects his deep expertise in both classical Tafsir literature and contemporary methodological approaches to Quranic interpretation.
