Prof. Dr. Ümit AKCA is a Sociology professor affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. His academic journey includes a Licentiate from Marmara University (1990), MA in Sociology from Hacettepe University (1997), and PhD in Sociology from İstanbul University (2003). He has contributed to over 76 scholarly publications with a Google Scholar h-index of 5.
Research interests focus on globalization, modernization, Turkish national identity, and sociological theory applications. Notable projects include analyzing protective family programs in Isparta, elderly-friendly mosque accessibility in Burdur, and the impact of social origins on educational inequality.
