Dr. Úna Britton serves as a Research Fellow at Dublin City University within the School of Health and Human Performance. She is currently engaged as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the Moving Well-Being Well project, which focuses on child and adolescent physical activity and health-related behaviours. Her work bridges research and practical application in youth health promotion across DCU's academic units.
Her academic qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Sport & Exercise Sciences, University of Limerick
- Master of Science (MSc) in Physical Education, Eastern Kentucky University (awarded on an athletics scholarship)
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Dublin City University's School of Health and Human Performance (2019)
Dr. Britton's research investigates physical activity engagement patterns during critical youth transitions, particularly the primary-to-secondary school shift. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates sport science, public health, and educational frameworks to develop evidence-based strategies for sustaining health behaviours. This work directly informs interventions targeting childhood obesity and mental well-being through structured physical activity.
She actively contributes to the Moving Well-Being Well project while lecturing across DCU's Physical Education, Athletic Therapy & Training, and Sport Science programs. Her dual role bridges cutting-edge research with curriculum development in movement-based health education.
