Siobhan Woods

Dr. Siobhán Woods is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Maynooth University (MU), joining in 2023. Previously, she held the same position at Dublin City University (DCU) School of Psychology, where she completed her PhD under Dr. Simon Dunne and Prof. Pamela Gallagher. Her PhD focused on burnout risk factors in Gaelic games athletes.

Her research interests center on psychological health and well-being in performance contexts, particularly athlete burnout and the interplay between physical activity and mental health. She also explores supportive care needs in oncology, as evidenced by her contributions to lung cancer caregiver studies.

Dr. Woods has presented at major conferences such as the European Health Psychology Society and the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity. Her work addresses topics including pandemic impacts on athlete well-being, gender differences in burnout, and theoretical frameworks for understanding burnout dynamics.

Publications span peer-reviewed journals like Journal of Sport & Exercise Psychology and Psycho-Oncology, reflecting her dual focus on sports psychology and oncology-related mental health.
