Özgür B. Akan is a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Koç University, Istanbul, Turkey. He directs the Next-generation and Wireless Communications Laboratory (NWCL). Previously, he served as Associate Director and Director of the Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering at Koç University (2013–2016). His expertise spans nanoscale and molecular communications, IoT, 5G networks, satellite communications, and signal processing.

Research Interests:
Prof. Akan focuses on advancing wireless communication technologies, including molecular communication for nanonetworks, IoT-enabled systems, and 5G/6G architectures. He explores distributed sensing, social networking applications, and satellite communication systems. His work integrates signal processing and information theory to solve challenges in modern communication networks.
