Assoc. Prof. Özer Çalış is a leading researcher in plant pathology at Akdeniz University, Faculty of Agriculture, with a career spanning over two decades. He completed his PhD at the University of East Anglia (UK) and has held academic positions at both Akdeniz University and Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University.

Recent publications analyze Trichoderma biocontrol, CRISPR-mediated resistance, and emerging avocado pathogens in Türkiye. He has supervised 16 theses and secured multiple TÜBİTAK and institutional grants.
