Professor Mahmut Tör is Chair of Molecular Plant and Microbial Biology at the University of Worcester, where he leads the Molecular Plant and Microbial Biosciences Research Unit. With over 25 years of experience in plant-pathogen interactions, his research examines genetics, molecular biology, and disease resistance mechanisms in plants.
Current research projects include:
- Pulse-Downy Mildew Pathosystem resistance deployment (BBSRC-LINK funded)
- Food Microbiome Analysis using Next Generation Sequencing
- CRISPR/Cas9 development for powdery mildew resistance in cucumber
He currently advises PhD candidates researching intracellular RNA signaling and gene targeting for disease control.
