Çağlanur Gencer is a researcher at the University of Tübingen's Faculty of Humanities, affiliated with the Department of Modern Languages (Deutsches Seminar). She holds an M.A. in International Literature and works under the Chair of German Philology and Comparative Literature led by Prof. Dr. Eckart Goebel.
- Education: M.A. in International Literature (University of Tübingen, 2018-2022); B.A. in Ethnology/Cultural Anthropology and International Literature (Tübingen & Bishkek, 2013-2016)
Her research focuses on intersections of aestheticism with political ideology and religious themes, contemporary Japanese literature, object history, and spatial representations in literature. She is working on a dissertation titled "Ästhetizismus und politische Ideologie: Literatur und Nationbuilding in Deutschland und Japan".
Her scholarly contributions include analyzing aestheticism in cross-cultural contexts, with a published essay on material culture and social mobility in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby (2025). She has presented at conferences at LMU Munich (2023) and Universität Koblenz (2024) on topics ranging from gender symbolism to cultural economics.

Gencer has contributed to teaching through courses on international literature fundamentals, Japanese-German literary relations, material culture in literature, and gender studies in literary contexts since 2022.
