Ángela Nieto

Ángela Nieto is a Full Professor and Head of the Developmental Neurobiology department at the Institute of Neuroscience (CSIC-UMH) in San Juan de Alicante, Spain, a position she has held since 2004. She concurrently serves as the Spanish Scientific Delegate at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and Conference (EMBC) since 2009, and President of the Scientific Committee of University Menendez Pelayo Valencia.

Her educational qualifications are:

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, "Cum laude" (1987)

Nieto's research integrates developmental biology and neuroscience to investigate fundamental embryonic processes. Her work centers on morphogenesis mechanisms, Snail gene functions, cellular movement dynamics, evolutionary genetics, and tumor progression pathways, revealing critical links between developmental biology and disease pathogenesis.
