Ríona Nic Congáil is an Associate Professor at University College Dublin’s School of Irish, Celtic Studies and Folklore. She holds a PhD in Irish from UCD (2009) and specializes in Revivalist Period studies, Women’s History, Childhood History, Education History, and Minority Language Literature. Her research emphasizes Irish-language youth literature, women’s writing, and cultural revitalization efforts. Key academic roles include: Associate Professor, UCD (2019–present) Lecturer/Assistant Professor at DCU and St. Patrick’s College (2008–2019) She leads major grants like the EU-funded YEELP project (2019–2025) and has received awards including the ACIS Prize (2022). She coordinates modules on Irish literature, youth culture, and research methodology. Active in professional networks like the Young Academy of Ireland (2023–2027), she organizes conferences on topics like minority-language teenage literature and Irish-language summer colleges.
