Noreen Goldman is the Hughes-Rogers Professor of Demography and Public Affairs at Princeton University’s Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, and a Faculty Associate at the Office of Population Research. Her research focuses on the social and economic determinants of health, particularly racial/ethnic disparities in health and longevity, occupational exposures, and aging processes. She has led large-scale studies in Guatemala and Taiwan, examining health disparities among marginalized populations. Goldman has authored over 250 peer-reviewed articles, with recent work emphasizing cardiovascular health in disadvantaged young adults, Latino health advantages, and pandemic-related mortality disparities. She holds membership in the National Academy of Sciences and has served on prestigious boards such as the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research’s Scientific Advisory Board and the Guttmacher Institute. Her research integrates demographic methods with epidemiological and biobehavioral approaches, addressing topics like the physiological pathways linking socioeconomic status to health outcomes. She has designed innovative longitudinal studies, including the Social Environment and Biomarkers of Aging Study (SEBAS) in Taiwan, and co-leads a major field study on cardiovascular health disparities among U.S. young adults. Goldman’s academic service includes roles as Vice President of the Population Association of America and editorial board memberships. She has taught extensively in demography, statistics, and epidemiology, and her honors include fellowships at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences.
