Kirsti Lauvli Andersen serves as Associate Professor in Nursing Science at Østfold University College, where she holds the significant position of Vice Dean of Education at the Faculty of Health, Welfare, and Organization. Her responsibilities encompass strategic leadership in educational development, quality assurance, accreditation processes, internationalization of education programs, and lifelong learning initiatives. She also leads SimFredrikstad, a simulation center focused on healthcare education. With twenty years of experience teaching nursing students, Professor Andersen's research primarily focuses on quality in education and healthcare quality. Her work spans diverse areas including patient-centered care, student-centered learning methods, simulation-based education, clinical teaching strategies, and family caregiving in chronic illness contexts. She has developed expertise in problem-based learning, socio-cultural learning theories, and educational frameworks such as Bloom's taxonomy for structuring learning outcomes. Her publication record demonstrates a clear trajectory from early work on patient experiences in home healthcare and chronic disease management toward contemporary research on international nursing education capacity building, particularly through the CABNEI (Capacity Building in Nursing Education in Indonesia) project. Her recent publications emphasize educational philosophy, clinical teaching methods, simulation training, and student-centered learning approaches in nursing education. Professor Andersen actively collaborates with colleagues including Vigdis Abrahamsen Grøndahl, Ann Karin Helgesen, and Jörg W Kirchhoff on numerous research projects. Her international work, particularly with Indonesian nursing educators, reflects her commitment to global healthcare education development and cross-cultural knowledge exchange in nursing pedagogy. As Vice Dean of Education, she plays a crucial role in shaping the educational strategy of the faculty, ensuring alignment with university college strategy and societal needs, while promoting innovative teaching methods and strengthening educational collaboration both within and beyond the institution.
