Louis D. Brown, PhD, is an Associate Professor at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) School of Public Health's El Paso Campus. His work in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences focuses on community-engaged interventions for mental and behavioral health in low-income, minority populations, particularly Hispanic communities along the US-Mexico border. Research Interests: Community-Based Mental Health Interventions Substance Use Prevention Coalitions Peer Support Workforce Development Migrant and Border Health Disparities Health Equity and Social Justice Child Home Safety in Rural Communities Article Trends: His recent publications emphasize community coalition dynamics (2025), peer worker empowerment (2025), social network analysis (2024), and culturally tailored interventions for Latino day laborers (2023-2022). Key themes include implementation science, behavioral health, and border-focused public health strategies. Current Projects: Includes parTy (methamphetamine prevention), Teens Against Tobacco Use , SHARE! Supervision of Peer Workforce , Traveler's Health Project (border CHW initiatives), Child Home Safety Intervention , and Proyecto Vales+Tú (day laborer injury prevention).
