Jesper Willaing Zeuthen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Politics and Society, Aalborg University, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. His research focuses on Chinese governance mechanisms, particularly categorization practices in urban-rural dynamics, critical minerals, and mental health policies. He holds a PhD from Roskilde University (2010) and MA/BA from Aarhus University (2001/1999). Previously, he served as a Senior Analyst in the Danish Government (2013–2015) and a High School Teacher (2011–2012). He leads major projects like CatCh (Ruling through Division in China) and participates in interdisciplinary initiatives like MDMP (Social Credit System Impact). His recent work addresses Danish-Taiwanese relations, mental health stigma in China, and data collection under political constraints. Key publications explore Greenland-China relations, digital governance, and urbanization in Chengdu. Zeuthen actively engages in workshops on topics like Arctic cooperation, rural governance, and trust in governance systems. His research impacts policy through contributions to Greenland-related reports and public debates on critical minerals. He supervises PhD projects on Arctic resources and Sino-Italian migration.
