Prof. Dr. Pelin YÜKSEL MAYDA is a Professor of Medical Microbiology at Kocaeli Health and Technology University, currently serving as Vice Rector. She has held leadership roles including Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and Head of the Department of Medical Microbiology. Her academic journey includes degrees from İstanbul University and Trakya University, with postgraduate training in Medical Microbiology and a research stint at Johns Hopkins University. Education: BSc (1995, İstanbul University), MSc (1999, İstanbul University), PhD (2005, Trakya University). Roles: Professor since 2021, Associate Professor since 2015, Department Head (2018–present), and Administrative Leadership (e.g., Vice Rector, 2022–present). Her research focuses on virology, immunology, bacteriology, parasitology, and mycology, with over 50 international publications. Key topics include antimicrobial resistance, vaccine efficacy, and molecular diagnostics. She has received the BRONZ MADALYA-İNOVASYON (2024) for innovation in health technologies.
